Check the o-ring on your remote drain plug

Been constantly getting water in to my 2014 Ranger Z118c. Tried fixing all kinds of pumps and hoses tried everything. Finally checked the o-ring around the remote drain plug and it was cut all the way through. Bought a new o-ring at my local Ace Hardware store, put it on, good as new. Zero water comes in. Wish I would have thought of that before doing all the extra work.

Good question - need to have a few o-rings on hand I guess.

Take the halves apart, install Oring and put it back together.

Try lubing it with some silicone grease.

Silicone lube or olive oil works well also.

    I’ve also heard chapstick recommended.

Remote plug O ring that came with the early model units was replaced by a slightly smaller diameter O ring by FlowRite due to closure issues. I updated mine with the new one and it resolved my issue of getting it to close properly and not bend the cable at the control knob trying to get it open. Keep the cable itself lubricated. Light oil with suspended graphite (used for locks and conveyor lines) works well for this control cable and the one for the livewell. Using a very small amount of temperature stable synthetic grease (SuperLube) on the O ring itself aides in movement. If you choose to use the grease be aware you can't ride down the road with the plug in the open position or it will attract road crud. Even with it closed you'll find bilge crud will also stick to it and require occasional cleaning/re-lube. I still think it's a great upgrade even with the additional mait.

The temperature stability of the grease used is important. Being synthetic, it doesn't affect the O ring material itself (swelling/degradation). This is stable from -45° to 450°. Great dialectic grease. I also use it on seat poles too.

Mine does not seat all the way either, I use an old golf club to push it in.

Mine works perfectly. I hit it with silicone faucet grease occasionally.

I use a grease sold at Pool Supply's for the O ring on the Pump filter. Holds up pretty well, and re-apply as needed.
