Deep scratch in my engine cowling

I back my boat under the lower part of the outside garage, dang support was too low and gouge my engine cowling.
If any of you have had this happen and you repaired it, how did you do it?

You'd be surprise what you can buff out with a turtle wax with rubbing compound wax. It may take you 4 polishing attempt but it should come out. I've done this multiple times on my bass boat gel coat. You will need a power tool. I've used a hand drill with a buffing ball.

    Good luck!

It’s worse than just a scratch, it left a nice deep path across the cowling. I need to find something to fill in the rut.....

Maybe a stick-on Mohawk to cover it?

I'm not discounting that but I have had the gel scratch deep enough that it shows white under the blue gel. I polished it enough times it blended it in. You might be surprised. Of course I don't have a pic but I've buffed out some deep scratches on my boats in the past with power tools and elbow grease.

Second option is beautiful red Mohawk addition. I know no laughing matter. Hope you find a solution.

ill give it a shot with trying to polish some of it out. Yea, it’s down deep into the white....
I have a buddy that uses what he calls a liquid plastic filler gadget at his shop. He said that will fill the rut up but you will have to sand it smooth and paint it. Lucky that the color is black.
Now... that Mohawk....wonder if it comes in silver?

Tape area off and sand and fill with fiberglass filler and sand till smooth the by some factory paint in a spray can and make it look good . I had a lift pulley take a small chip out of my deck edge and bought that stuff on amazon in a little pack and I can hardly find where it was .
