    Binoculars

I am looking to upgrading my 30 plus year old binoculars for the up coming hunting season. I want to be able to glass large open fields while hunting for deer as well as large bodies of water for waterfowl. Clarity is a must as these eyes are not getting any younger. This will probably be my last pair during the remainder of of my outdoor years so I am willing to spend the money to get something of good quality. All suggestions appreciated.

Except for Zeiss. Go somewhere where you can look through Zeiss, Swarovski, and Leica. Then, make your decision. For my eyes the Zeiss were just, wow.

Is there any certain model for either Swarovski or Zeiss I should be looking at as a starting point?

EL in Swarovski, 10x50's is what I'd reccomend.
Many years ago I was on an Elk hunting trip and was wanting to buy a new pair. One guy there had Swarovski, another Leica and another Zeiss. I was able to compare them out to 500 yards. The Zeiss wasn't in the same ballpark as the other two. Leica was close but Swarovski was the clearest and brightest.

Here is what I read and seems to be true. When you are talking about the top 3 best there is--Zeiss, Leica, and Swarovski, you really need to put them side by side and look through each. Everyone's eyes are different and one brand will 'respond' better to YOUR eyes. I did this a few years ago at the K.C. Cabelas store. All three were very good. But, when my eyes looked through the Zeiss's, it was OMG. Razor sharp image, and I could literally feel my eyes relax. Your eyes may respond best to one of the other brands. Spending this kind of money, you really owe it to yourself to do the comparison.

For the last 20 years I have been buying binos, scopes and cameras from Doug at Camera Land NY. Always was the lowest prices and great service.

I have been looking at the Vortex selection as they are more in line as what I would like to spend.

I don't know anything about Vortex binos, but I do know their scopes are junk.

How much do you want to spend? High end Vortex get you into Swaro $$ range.

I was a fan of Vortex, until I had to send several scopes in for warranty work. If you decide to go that route, I recommend you spend some time researching them before spending the coin.

Maybe I’ve been lucky with my vortex stuff?? No problems here from their scopes, binos or range finders. Their warranty is hard to beat, actually dropped my binos which was all my fault. Sent them in and a new set at the door in under a week no questions asked.
