    Crestliner pt20 speed

I am running a crestliner pt20 with a merc 200 pro xs v8 and a nd a tempest plus 19 pitch 2nd mounting hole down with a 6 inch hydraulic jack plate, with 2 people a cooler and light tackle I can only get about 51 mph tops fully trimmed out turning around 5600 rpm... any one with a similar set up? Any tips to get more speed?

    Sounds like a 4 stroke
    What year Crestliner?
How many wedges on transom? I have 2 from Crestliner and I added 2 but may not need it if you have no porpose. Just how I did mine.
Jackplate with engine in top hole
I turn 6000 run 56 at tournament load
    Single person 58/59
Have ran 61 with a Tempest 21 but only turned 5700

You're barely in the recommended WOT range of 5600-6200. Raise the motor and remember, you have no lifting surface with a mod-vee hull.

Yes it's the mercury 4 stroke Pro Xs, It's a 2019 crestliner. The dealer installed 2 wedges sent over from crestliner and it took care of the porpoising problem awhile back. However I have gotten better speed with the same prop and ran 5900 rpm fully trimmed with the jack plate raised about and inch when I had to use a lighter temporary trolling motor. I had two people in the boat but we were about 125 pounds lighter load that day. With the ultrex back on though It dropped back down to just above the 5600 rpm mark, when I raise the Jack plate an inch it stays about the same speed anything beyond that i lose speed and don't really gain many rpms. Forgot to mention I have a single 8 foot power pole blade on starboard side.

I usually run my jackplate to 2 3/4 to 3 3/4. My engine is in the top hole.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to try running it different heights between 3 to 4.5 inches up and try that out next time I get out to the lake and see how it works out.

Man and I thought my PROXS 150 was slow running 2 people and my tackle at 57 MPH. That must be a heavy boat.
