    Pro XS 300 prop choices?

Looking for advice on prop selections for Pro XS 300 4 stroke Torque master on a Triton 21X, 10 hyd Jack.....
Mercury R is suggesting 27 Fury or Bravo I XS 28.5. Any one have any input on these options?
    Thanks

I think you received some good advice. Fury and Bravo FS are two good choices and the pitch suggestions seem good as a Fury runs about 2 pitches stiffer than a Bravo.

Thanks for the confirmation, I know these guys know their props but it helps to here from the Bass guys. Most of Merc Racing data is based on Allison’s and Bullet’s but the Tritons carry a little more Hull weight.

Quite a bit more weight. I have owned all three brands.

If the advice they gave you was for an A boat or a B boat the recommended pitch would have been higher because of less weight and a faster hull. Depending on gear ratio in the 30" to 32" range or higher.

i think u will be overpropped my 2020 nitro z21 pro with 300 pro xs best prop is a 26p bravo 1 xs load carrying and holeshot 75 gps at 5950 on vessel view 23 fury 3 at 6180 rpm at 75.5 24 fury 3 at 5900 74 ish but sluggish on holeshot u really neex to go low on pitch on the fourstroke due to lack of torque on the 4s

The 4.6 L V8 Mercury engines are not lacking in torque.

That is why you can run a Bravo with all vent holes plugged and still rev plenty for a good holeshot. It is the 2 stroke engines which need holes open to rev high enough to get into the torque range.

Big difference between a Nitro Z21 and a Triton 21 TRX. Z21 is 200 lbs heavier and that boat was never fast with any motor on it.

Not sure on the 4x...My 300xs is running a worked 27 Fury, 27 Bravo and 28.5 Bravo...They are running on a Phoenix 721 which is usually 50% or more on fuel, heavy load and 2-12ft Talons on the back.

Side note, a buddy has the 300R on a 920 and it will not turn a 27 Fury...

This is what I wanted to see....actual info from Bass guys.

Holeshot....Per the email from Merc Racing I got the impression (as you said), the A & B are running 30+ pitch and even the 5 blade clever so totally different data. It was there suggestion to go with the Fury 27 (I’m running a T1 27 Yamaha at times now. As you would expect, slow on hole shot. But I can elevate the hydraulic Jack, trim downand gain the needed rpms to get it up and reach 75
with a half tank/ 2 Talons and all the gear.

So going to the 4 stroke, wasn’t sure what to expect. Sounds like the 27 would need venting ? But don’t won’t to give up the top end!
    Thanks for the feedback

I would be pissed if I had a 300 hp eng and struggled to get to 75 mph .

Hitting 75 has many factors though...Load, altitude, weather etc. Try running 75 down here in SE Tx with a tournament load, 96 degree temp and 90% humidity...Its not as easy as it sounds. I ran my Fury last weekend and only ran 81, it usually runs mid 80`s...the hole shot sucked too. I went back to the ramp and put the Bravo 27 on....Ran 80 all day with it. Spring and fall I run the Fury and the hole shot is still pretty decent but with high temp and humidity last weekend, the hole shot suffered.

Now starting to get more confused
I understand the Fury is a stiffer Alloy so doesn’t flex as much as the Yamaha T1 27.
Im rigging my Triton 21X with a BOB’s 10” Action Series and With the XS 300.... if I can turn the Yamaha 27 to 74 gps on a 2005 250 HPDI, surely the Merc ProXS 300 can surpass those numbers??
    Thanks for the input!!

    Just a follow up....
I have had the ProXS300 for a few days..... did the 2 hr break in plus some additional time.

As a few suggested, the Fury 27 may be too much prop but a little more time and familiarity with Mercury, Atlas jackplate and trim
adjustments will tell. Due to the limited time and not quite reached the total break in time, I’ve only run it WOT for limited minutes.
So far, one short run with two men, gear and half tank of gas ran it up to 77 at 5700 - 5800 rpms. I hope to spend some additional time the week of Oct 12th to work out some details.
    Thanks for any comments!

I have a buddy with a 921 Phoenix with power poles and big load with the 300R Torque Master case and we tested a 26 Fury, 26.5 Bravo, 28 Bravo, 28 Max 5, 27 Tempess worked and the 26 Fury was fastest but 26.5 Bravo carried the load much better with overall better performance. Couldn't turn the 28" wheels enough RPM's. All this testing was done back in January with cool temps but motor wasn't broken in yet.
