Most sensitive NRX casting rod? Which model and why?

For bottom contact baits like 3/8-3/4oz. jigs, dark sleepers, texas rigged worms, etc.? Also, what reel do you have on that particular most sensitive model? Thanks!

3/4 is too heavy for it but the most sensitive casting rod is the 893c and steez a 7.1

I rarely use a 3/4 oz. jig I just put that in the "just in case" range. I am usually throwing 5/16-1/2oz.

    How about 893 vs 894?

5/16 to 1/2 sounds like the 893 with a 2020 Metanium or Steez. I also really like the 873. It excels at the 1/2-5/8 oz jigs and can handle all you Texas rig needs. It will also handle the 3/4 oz jig but is at its upper end.

I have an 803 GLX which is very sensitive for bottom contact stuff. Haven't tried an 803 NRX, but I suppose it is possible for it to be a tad more sensitive.

Very subjective question from person to person but the 894 and 873 are my two favorite nrx’s. I use the 894 for jigs or for pitching and the 873 for texas and carolina rigs. The 893 is also a very nice stick but i like a little stronger rod than some others so it didnt get as much use. Had an 854 that felt dead in my hands compared to the others but im sure there are some who love it
They aint got hands, set the hook

893 is fantastic but too light for 3/4 I like the 854 and 894 for that range they are fantastic jig rods/ deep football head in the 3/4-1 ounce range. I have heard the 873 is very good and may be better but have never held one

I first bought the 843 and it was too much for a 1/2 jig so bought an 853 jwr and man I love it. It handles 3/4 oz jigs with ease and for some reason I can’t explain...it is the most accurate casting rod I own. I went from missing my target by 2 feet with the Megabass Destroyer fmj to being deadly accurate with the 853

This is the right answer. I throw 3/4oz. on the 894 but the 873 has better balance

i use 894's with 2016 mets for what you mention. I own the 893 and had both NRX803's and BCR GLX 803's for many years. The three powers can't handle 3/4 well.

In an absolute sensitivity contest I guess the 893 or the 803 wins but I don't find the difference material.

I've landed three double digit bass on the 894 and zero on all other models and brands. I think it fair to say I have an emotional bias. The balance of the 894 is not good and I use a butt cap to turn it into a tip up rod.

glad you said that about balance , cause I got a GLX that was not right with a diawa 103 on it and I hated it ! Put a curado 70 on it and it feels totally different and one of my favorite loomis rods now ! At least I know I’m not complete crazy haha

I have the 803C, 854C, and the 894C and have found the 854C to be the best all around rod...the 803 is noticeably lighter and with it being extra fast I believe it is more sensitive as well...albeit shorter and you wouldn’t think it would work well for heavier jigs, Texas rigs, or Shakey heads but I prefer using weights on the upper end of the rod rating to help casting distance with the extra fast tip. Also have the 873 CRR Carolina Rig rod...all of them are on a much higher level than previous rods I’ve used (Diawa Kage, Donyns Fury, and St Croix) as to be expected..but in terms of sensitivity I would say it goes along with length for me on the NRX ..the shorter rod feels a bit more sensitive than the longer..

I’ll also say I have a Lews Custom light Speed Spool (new 4.7oz reel) on my 803C and the combination is EXTREMELY light overall! Literally feels like it’s half the weight of my 854C with Lews Hypermag...although I absolutely love the silky smooth Hypermag! Those two combos I use the most often just for the fact that it’s a pure delight using both combos.
