    Lake Wawasee

Planning a trip here in the fall. What is the primary forage for bass here?
Are there shad or shiners present in the lake?
    Thanks in advance!

    Shiners, perch, some shad.

    Has both largemouth and smallmouth.

Don’t go on any weekend unless you need your carpet washed. Ton of wake surfers. Most are blind but the ones that can see will use your boat as a turning buoy.

The very reason I rarely fish it, boat isn't big enough.

I am in agreement with avoiding Wawasee on the weekends, but then I avoid all lakes on the weekends. Its a great lake to fish, if you can avoid the boat traffic. Don't forget to fish some of the many channels around the lake. There are some nice bass living their entire lives in those channels.

I lived in Indiana for five years and fished a bunch of club tournaments but never made it Wawasee. Just looked at the satellite view, wow there are a lot of docks on that lake. No wonder the boat traffic is insane on weekends. Is Johnson Bay no wake or is it also a washing machine?

Last time I was on the lake, Johnson Bay wasn't idle. Of course that could have changed. I've not been there in maybe 5 years. I hope to get back up there this fall.

Fished that lake many years ago in a tournament, loved the lake however it was more than clear the locals that lived on the lake did not want us there, doubt I ever go back.

Want washing machine try salamonie or mississenwa on a weekend. Insane amount of boat traffic. Wawasee is bad because the residents are just plain rude, and run boats that belong on the great lakes instead of a shallow inland lake.

Example, if you fish one of the points people will cut between you and the weed line, even though there is a whole lake behind you. They do it because they think people shouldn't fish.

Definitely sucks. I spent most of my time fishing Freeman and Shafer and I can't imagine what those lakes are like now. I was there in the early to mid 1980's, pre-wake boarding.

Shouldn’t be much traffic in October especially when it’s cloudy and windy

It seems like it was just a couple years ago, but after thinking about it, I believe our last time in K County was in 2016. We had been on LSC and got blown off by a big October north wind. Decided to leave a day early and stop at Wawasee and fish. The canals saved the day..
You ever fish the flat rock river?

Low weights from a recent tournament there. Place gets hammered with fishing pressure. Here are the results from that tournament.
