crawl on your hands and knees under the chair

push in the lock tab, while pushing up on the underside of the chair with your shoulder

lube the post and socket, even sand down .005" or 010"from the post.

on my front seat the chair and post were REAL tight and the post would turn in the socket in the deck and the lock tab screwed up the carpet a little. I had to take apart the seat and post and clean up the LOUSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! finish of the parts so they would slip and let the chair turn.

I always had to twist mine but I'm pretty sure it's the carpet that gets in there and makes it stupid tight. I thought I was going to have to use a pipe wrench one time to get it to twist
