    Ultrex Heading Sensor

Anyone have pics of where you mounted your Ultrex Heading Sensor on a RT188 Ranger?

Have a good one and thank God for it!

That’s on the 188P. Was either done by the dealer or factory. I haven’t had any issues so far.

How do you like the Mega 360?

After having the original 360 and not seeing the price value considering the grainy imaging, the new mega 360 I think is worth it. It produces some real good images of any little structure, has a wet switch so I didn’t have to install a separate power switch for it and you don’t have to worry about air bubbles in the pod (from vibration) ruining images.

Should have a disconnect switch since it uses power all the time.

Some get confused with mounting the heading sensor, it IS NOT a GPS. It can be mounted anywhere in the boat away from ferrous metals or wires that handle large currents, such as batteries or power cables, but has to be mounted so the arrow on the sensor is parallel with the keel of the boat and in sight of the head of the trolling motor. I've seen it mounted next to the trolling motor like the picture and on the console and does equally well.

I have a 198 and I mounted mine just to the right of my foot pedal. Was no issue mounting it there.

I went flat on the deck, right in front of electronics. I tried up on the top like mentioned above but couldn’t get clear field.
I used a small compass from my hunting pack and tried several areas with this being the cleanest and closest to electronics.
You can tell if you have a clear field with the compass if the needle stays steady.

Mine is where ILBassin's is located, but I glued mine down. I've drilled enough holes!

Mine is under the console. Cant stand to have defunct/outdated stuff mounted to my boat or screw holes for no good reason later on when something else takes its place. Make sure its a fiberglass console though.

Guess I am the odd man out. I found it real easy to wire under the dash mounting it here.
