    Dove Season Opener-Boom!

Went with 4 friends to hunt doves with a big group in NE Ok on a rainy cool day.
Birds were there and the rain showed up too.
Half a limit by 8:30, then coffee and newspaper reading for a hour and a half during the heavy rain.
Went back and finished my limit by 11:30.
Buddies shot 3 boxes of shells plus each.
They had a ball on their first big group dove hunt. They want to go again.
Then sat around drinking a beer, cleaning birds and shooting the breeze with the boys.
    Good day.
September 1st is one of my favorite days of the year every year. Gunpowder, feathers, friends, family and the start of the fall hunting seasons.
Missed my grandsons and son in law as they have been with me for the last 8 years in a row.
We will try and make up a hunt this weekend again for them since the 1st fell on a Tuesday and they made the right decision to stay in school.
    I would have skipped!

about 2 miles south of White Hawk golf course?
I used to hunt out there a few years on a place that broadcast wheat for planting about week before the season.
The game warden hunted the field next to it!
    It was good.
