I use a bow mount hand control TM on my jon/skiff boat and like it very much. The only time that it becomes a problem is in the wind but, that’s more of an issue with a light boat.
If I am making a quick trip to my cabin on Georgian Bay (in a normal year), I will sometimes not take my Lund. Instead, I'll use our 16 foot Crestliner vee hull. I still need a TM, but I mount it on the stern. I reversed the head on the TM so that I can still use it as I would a regular bow mount hand control TM.
