    Is Nimrod worth bass fishing?

I'm on Maumelle more than 99% of the time since it's close but Nimrod is roughly an hour away. Was on it once about 10 years ago in my own boat and didn't do so great but also had zero knowledge on how to break a lake down according to the seasons. I know you can get in trouble in a hurry on it but that's true with just about any lake if you're not careful and have good mapping now. So is it worth the extra miles to get there or is it just a slightly smaller version of Maumelle when it comes to fish quality?

I’ve heard it can be really good bass fishing but I’ve never been on it at all

Several years ago my friend's grandpa was out there and got stuck in a shallow area. Then grenaded his gear case trying to get off of it. And he was out there with someone that was supposed to know the lake BUT ol Loyd was stubborn and would go where he wanted even if told it was a bad idea.

It's better than you think. Problem is like all the other lakes around here the word gets out then it gets hammered. If the lake is high it's easy to get around if you can find a place to launch. Otherwise stick to the boat lanes and river. Little club tournament there week before last 16lbs was first place.

It's a great lake for bass and especially crappie. Just take your time and run the marked lanes. The river is usually most consistent but the main lake drops can be extremely good but they're more hit and miss. I fish maumelle quite often as well and I think nimrod is well worth the drive. There's a few other smaller lakes around that area that can be good as well. Good luck!

Nimrod is still blown to hell but me and Gene still managed to catch a few. And think we each made a new friend! We'll be fishing again together soon.

I have been wondering the same. I live about 10 miles from Lake Maumelle and fish it a lot. Its just easy to get to, and to fish. I think Nimrod has been pretty good the last several years. We picked up a new member in our deer lease (about 4 miles from Lake Nimrod) and he knows it well. I may have to get him to show me around. Its nice to have a few options. I usually either fish river or Hamilton and Ouachita if I want a change.

Fish weren't acting right, but a few cooperated enough to keep us from getting bored. Definitely will have to fish again with Chris he might not be that good at catching but he's fun to watch.

Caught some quality fish on Maumelle this afternoon. I think I found a hot lure in a profile and color I won't speak of. Caught dinks on Nimrod but caught quality on Maumelle.

So you're the one Gene was talking about could only catch jacks. You won't find them east of the ramp towards the dam. The furthest east I've caught a jack is Old Jolly Rogers or Reece Creek. Tie on a squarebill and hold on tight.
