    Nights are cooling?

Seems like the nights are now consistently getting down into the 70’s and 50 degree night temperature predicted for the near future. I’m new to the Kansas/Kansas City fishing area as of this spring.

Got some vacation coming up the week following Labor Day. Hoping to find some active fish.

Been wanting to try out Perry, Melvern and some of the smaller KC local reservoirs. Anyone have much luck with this kind of weather transition in this area in the past?

Hit and miss most days in the late summer/early fall is my experience. The fish will be moving, so you have to try and come across their path.

It's still August so I wouldn't put much thought into the cooler weather changing much at least for another month. At least this is my experience when it gets like it is now at this time of year.

Find the bait, find the fish. Simple but not always easy.

some of the best fishing is during the dog days of summer. I went to Perry Wednesday and caught probably 10 nice bass and a few of those were decent smallmouth. All in 7-10 feet of water on a 4 inch hoo-daddy and Ned rig

it it will be mid sept probably before you see much change in patterns..

Had a dream of a day with the big one being 6.02 and the 5 fish limit approaching 29 lbs on Sunday!

You are right. I missed out on my opportunity to go to either of those during my vacation the week of the 7th. I wasn’t supposed to have another day off until October 3rd, but some magic happened and I had a free morning on Sunday and I’m glad I got to go.

I really don't want to throw one of those big baits, but if you guys keep catching those kinds of fish I might have to start.

Meh, I’ve caught 7 fish over 6 lbs this year. Only one has come on a “big bait.” The others were one a squarebill or jig.
