200SS on 2000 Ranger 518svx with 12jp and power poles (Prop HELP??)

I have a 2000 Ranger 518svx with a new 200SS and have had quite the time finding the right prop. Local dealer has propped and repropped with a 3 blade with a 19p down to a 16p. RPM's revving up to 6400 with top speed at 50mph. I just know that can't be right. The hole shot is awful and while I suspect the weight from the batteries, jackplate and power poles to be some of the challenge I would certainly think I would have a better hole shot and may top speed somewhere in mid 60's. Greatly appreciate any suggestions on what to go with.

I would think you need to be a 26" or 27" pitch prop. I'm not sure what the lower unit ratio is on the 200SS but I'll assume its the same as the 250SS. Many have been having luck with the Solas Scorpion prop and they are much cheaper than the Suzuki props. You can also call Andy @ Team Marine and see what he says. They are probably the most knowledgeable of setting up bassboats with Suzukis.

i just finished the break in on my 2002 Ranger 520DVX with a new DF200SS. Is your motor a 2020 model ( serial number starts with 20004F- )? The 2019 models still had the old 2.5x1 gear ratio. With 58 gallons of gas, 5 batteries, 2 200 pound men and gear, I’m getting 50 mph at 6000 rpm. Hole shot is okay but not as good as my old two stroke 225. I’m running a solas rubex 4 blade 19. Some have said that the new Suzuki sport prop 3x19 would be better but they are not cheap.

6400 at 50 MPH is quite unacceptable. What's worse is you should leap out of the hole with a prop that low. Something is amiss probably in the rigging. If you have the old gear ratio L/U you should have a much larger prop. 19 and 16 pitch are ocean-going pitch props even in a 16 inch diameter. What is your prop diameter?

If you have the new 200SS with the 2.0:1 lower unit i would think a 23 or 24 solas scorpion prop would be your huckleberry. I don't have any experience with the suzuki motors but I've been looking at them for my next Vexus 2080. Not sure they are there speed wise and I'm holding out to hear some reviews.

Well to answer my own question he has an SS and they have L/U ratios that should enable the use of more conventional propellers. The plot thickens.

19 pitch is wayyyy too low. For an 18 footer you might even be able to get away with a 25. If you have the updated l/u then I agree start with a 23 or 24.

For reference, my 2018 DF200SS on my 19 footer has a 27 pitch prop....and that might be too small....(2.50:1 gear case)
