How many do it when the fishing gets tough? I'm talking fishing them deep & letting them fall very slowly with an 1/8 ounce weight.

What's deep? I'll fish a 6" worm on 1/8 oz to 15'.
I always fish light with Texas rig. Just seem to get bit more. Use light line too. But, I do break off a few.
I’ve done it...not quite 30 feet deep, but 20-25. It’s not really much fun and if it’s that tough I’d rather throw a Texas rigged drop shot or even a Ned rig, but if cover is too heavy it is what it is.* Much easier to do with a spinning rod in my opinion as you can cast it better and, more importantly, get it to fall straight down.
*For what it’s worth, the type of cover I’ve learned I can get a Texas rigged drop shot through is pretty impressive. Much easier for me to stand throwing than a super light Texas rig too. Not quite as weedless as a Texas rig but you can get darn close.

Every once in a while I'll throw a 1/8 oz Slider head, Texas rigged with a Zoom Trick worm or a Roboworm. But when I do I am hoping it gets bit before it hits 30 feet. It can be a good way to work timbered bluffs on Table Rock.
Thanks.
I fish light weights, and light line more than most.
I couldn't tell a difference in the bite Tuesday night using a 1/8 & 1/4 ounce weights. I still sucked.
