May be some air in the system.

Go about 20-25 and stop hard with out locking up.

Put truck in park and set parking brake before you release brake foot pedal.

Go back and check the position of the slide pin on the side of the actuator.

Anything more than 1/2 way depressed and you need to bleed the system.

That is the check both Lynn and Dabs have suggested to me over the years.

Let us know what you find as your eventual solution.

    Good Luck

it might move back a inch maybe a tad more ,i tried that, i am really surprised you can make them squeal running around 45 mph and do a hard stop

This is as far as mine travels back on braking on a 1 year old trailer.

    Judge for yourself.

i dont think mine travels that far,its a strange one,its almost like you have the dial on top set to backing trailer (mine has the one the covers the fill cap that you can back trailer if you turn dial that says backing)

To confirm, this trailer has disc brakes?

Maybe the tongue is binding in the sleeve when you're backing up your steep driveway? That would be the only thing that comes to mind for me. Maybe try to fully extend the coupler and see if you have any excessive lateral and/or vertical slop and check for gouging on the tongue insert.

Hope you get it figured out...
