    trailer bunk replacement

Wanting to replace this winter, it's a 2004 Pantera Classic single axle. Lying on my back, it looks like 2x4 of varying length (7' and 11'). Can you confirm?

    And any funky cuts needed?

I plan to purchase the bunk carpet kit from BCB.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike

Use straight, Pressure treated 2”x 6” boards

3/8 x 1.5 inch SS lag bolts with SS washers - wood glue in hole then lag bolt

Boards Ripped to 4.75” ( 3/4 inch taken off the length )

    ( 2 ) 10 footers
    ( 2 ) 6 footers

20" long and 3/4" wedge at the front

Take 1 inch off the top 18 " of the front of each board on an angle back about 18 inches to nothing on a wedge like in the pics. Measure 1 inch in then 18 inches down to the edge of the original board to create the wedge to cut off..

Chamfer back top of boards 45 degrees on the back end of all 4 boards where the hull first hits the boards when loading.

3M contact cement for the center strip ( Or Weldwood or Formica brand )

Glue the first piece of carpet to the top of the bunk, cut to width. Then the second piece doesn't get glued on top, but does get glued on the sides and back.

Stainless staples holding the final flap down.

A little more info for you.
Use the old bunks as a pattern. Also old carpet if its not tore up.
You will need to use a ratchet strap to pull the boards to the mounting points at the front of the trailer.

Where did you get your carpet? And is the adhesive from 3M called "3M Contact Cement"?

I bought the bunks assembled from the factory. Wow is all I can say. Very well built. Was lucky enough to get them ordered during the $1.00 Christmas shipping special. Hopefully will get them installed this next week.
