    ULTREX DEPLOY

I got my boat out for some fishing yesterday and using my new Ultrex for the first time and I think it is a huge improvement over my Fortrex. One comment, it seems when I deploy the Ultrex it takes twice the effort to get it into the water as would be needed to put my Fortrex in the water. Is that common or do I possibly have a bad shock. Thanks for any comments.

They are a bit heavier with the added steering module

The Ultrex has a different shock that the fortrex because of the added weight from the steer motor. It will slam if you do not hold it as it is deploying. It will however be a little easier to stow than the fortrex. Just take a look at the upper arm as you are deploy it and see if it is going down dead center of the base. If not then you may have to adjust the base by losing a screw or two that is holding the base down on the deck. It may take a little effort if it has to be done, but it will pay off in the long run.

My Ultrex is actually easier to stow and deploy then my Fortrex was so something isn't right.

I have the 80# 45" Ultrex with a MEGA 360. I changed the piston to the 112# model to help with the extra weight.

I just checked the Ultrex and it does deploy on a straight line and it appears nothing is wrong in the mounting bracket. Does anyone have an idea why it takes double the effort to deploy that my Fortrex needed. I will call Minn Kota Monday also.

Some have experienced a weak gas spring piston and replaced it.

This is the stock one for the 80# mount:

I called Minn Kota and explained the deploy issue and their tech thinks the wrong or a bad shock was installed. They are sending me a new shock.
