    Don's cocktail

    Optimax 200
    Model # 1200D73DD
    Serial Number 1B044654

I know that the current recipe is:

    -1oz Mercury QuickCare +
    -1oz Mercury QuickLeen
    ----------------------------
Per 5 Gallons of Fuel (in EVERY TANK)

Mercury QuickStor is added if the boat is to be stored.

The old recipe included Seafoam, and if I am remembering correctly it did not use QuickStor. If so the implication is that Seafoam was in the mix as a stabilizer.

    Is that accurate?

No, Don no longer recommends Seafoam.

Seafoam has or at least had Isopropyl Alcohol in it and was the reason it was removed. Don's cocktail has been changed a couple of times to make it better. I do the two you mentioned and add Premium Plus oil (4.25oz per 5 gal) to the list of additives to keep the injectors lubricated. Do not use DFI oil as it not TCW3 rated and will not mix with the fuel.

I know that he no longer recommends it because of the alcohol. That wasn't my question.

I am asking if it had been in the formula for the stabilizer.

If the boat is going to be stored, you replace the quickcare in the cocktail with quickstor. I don't think seafoam has ever been billed as a stabilizer.

No. Marine Stabil was used in the OLD cocktail. Three components were replaced by TWO a number of years ago.

Actually, Don, I was thinking of a time before Marine Stabil was released.

Yeah... I've seen that advertised on the cans...

Zelmo... before we used the Marine Stabil, we used the old (red) Stabil. Back in those days they had just he one product, offered in about a 1/2 dozen different sizes.
