    limped home

I will post on the Merc section once I have the serial number, thought i would just shoot it out there.
96 225 Mariner EFI- 800ish hours. Ran in a tournament all day on Saturday, made a 50 mile round trip run. No issues.
Took out Monday night to a smaller lake ran 3 mile up the lake, on the way back cruising at 30 mph she just shut down as if starved of fuel. would not restart. Bulb not getting as hard as usual. Old fuel lines, newer bulb. 1/3 tank of gas. Only good news, 1/2 mile from the ramp and up wind from it. Dark when at the ramp, have not looked over the engine yet.

Replace the fuel lines. You can cut one open and see the carnage.
There’s no use being stupid if you’re not willing to show it off.

If you think it is starved of fuel then check the fuel lines, bulb, filter, and water separator. Hopefully one of those is your problem because it's all simple stuff.

Having performance problems? Check fuel delivery system first to rule it out.

Hook it up to a auxiliary tank with a new bulb and lines and start troubleshooting from there. If it starts with the auxiliary and fresh fuel you know you have bad lines and that's your problem. From there change out all lines and check all other parts of the fuel delivery system as well.

Really good advice, applicable to several kinds of boat problems. If you think you might have a problem with a certain component, and can replace that entire component without undue trouble or expense [even temporarily], putting a *known good* solution in place of a questionable component can significantly cut down on diagnostic time. This isn’t always the optimum approach, but works for many things, so long as you aren’t buying expensive parts and just throwing them in. Spare tank and lines? Absolutely.
