95 mercury 200 xri no tach

New to me boat has no tach OG258593. After checking the voltage regulators the top one has melted yellow bullet connects and when the motor is running they get extremely hot. I Changed the gray wire to the bottom regulator and still know tach. Is it possible that both regulators are bad. I know to change both if one is bad.

Go ahead and change both. While you're in there, change out your burnt bullet connectors.

Moved thread to the correct forum for you.

Replace BOTH regulators and any discolored, melted or burnt bullet connectors. Use ONLY OEM Mercury/Quicksilver components here.
