    2007 Etec 225 help

My motor is giving me issues and I am looking for some advice.

    2007 Evinrude Etec 225
    Model Number: E225DHLSUA

The last few times to the lake I had the same issue. I would drive the boat for about 2-4 minutes and it would die and would not start back up. The next morning it would bust right off. I checked compression (everything good) and plan to order a diagnostic tool to see if there are any codes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the capacitor to see if the fluid leaked out. When the fluid on your 07 engine leaks into the rubber boot it dries into a flakey white substance.

As you posted earlier "The next morning it would bust right off"
If this is the issue, diagnostic software would help us determine what codes are stored, the capacitor gets hot and will not function again until it cools off.

There is another part that can kinda do this same thing, the Crankshaft Position Sensor, (CPS) but this item will usually restart when you hit the key after it shuts down.

I ordered a diagnostic setup so I can figure out if it has any codes. I will check what you mentioned when I can get to the boat tomorrow evening.

I looked the capacitor over and can’t see any problems. How do I check it? Should I just order a new one

Slide the boot off and see what that liquid is and what the connectors look like.

There is not any leaks or corrosion. It looks brand new. I took the boot off and inspected it
