I tow with them on but I have Velcro straps on all my covers. Here are the straps I bought for all my graphs covers

On, but I use these big 24" rubbery twist-ties from Home Depot. I use orange, even though they're kind of ugly, so I know they're on there at a glance.

I’ve done short trips with limited hyway travel without a problem. Anything longer I have a bungee over each of them.

This is what I use on my Helix 10s

I leave the band just hang on the cradle mount arm when I remove the cover and it is always there when I replace the cover.

Take a bit to stretch but that cover is not going anywhere.

I leave mine on and I doubt they’ll blow off with any amount of towing wind especially when the tow vehicle is blocking air flow.

I have been towing with mine on with no problem, but recently the one on the console unit blew off and I was lucky it fell into bottom of boat. I think the reason for this was due to high temperature and rubber softened and thus it blew off. I am no longer towing with them on.

I've had Lowrance ones blow off. I use velcro straps now.

I use that same 6" band on 998s and Garmin 93+ units for a safety restraint for the snap in cradle.

Never had a problem from the Garmin cradle popping out but there has been numerous complaints.

Never seen a Lowrance in person so I don’t know how they fit. The ones on my 7 and 10 are very snug and take a good pull to get them off.

I rarely tow with my graphs on but if I do I use the little braided bungees.

So do the lowrances. I was surprised it came off honestly. Bow unit, prolly a good gust from a passing vehicle.

Hmm....making me consider throwing some Velcro strapping around mine. Doubt they’d fly out of the boat but $40 is $40.

The Lowrance looks like the one on my Garmin 102. That sucker snaps on tight but I read the changed it up so they wouldn’t come off as easily as older models.

It would depend on each units placement in relation to wind protection..and how tight the cover is.
My console unit is completely shielded from the wind while my bow mount --not so much..

Yeah the covers arent cheap to replace! Luckily I got mine cheap on Amazon as a used cover, was brand new. Those straps I posted are like $10 TYD with tax if you have prime, they work good for me.

I’ve got some of the Velcro rolls that you see at Lowe’s, Walmart etc. Figured I’d do that if I decided to start strapping mine down. Those premade straps look nice as well.

I keep my cover on. And the Helix in the rear truck seat.
