Question 1985 Johnson GT 150 - No Spark

    1985 Johnson GT 150 - J150STLCOS Serial J6131172
Starting first time in 3 years. Stored in temperature controlled garage.
Engine always fogged and turned by hand every few weeks.
Fuel system lines all new. No kinks. Fuel visible at fuel filter when bulb is primed.

Battery is low for sure. Service manual recommends 500 CCA. Local Academy has Dual Purpose Interstate 27DP 750 CCA --Or Interstate 24 at 1000 CCA ---Which or what do you recommend?
Old battery jumped with Jeep Battery charged up enough that starter does turn fast enough that it "should" fire off. I will be getting a new battery. Also need a electrical meter as I can't find mine

No spark at any plugs. Checked with inline plug tester.
New wires and plugs (Champion QL16V)
    20 amp fuse intact

I have the service manual and parts manual that I always refer to.

    Any initial thoughts?

    New battery.

She's running and idling on its own at around 650 rpm.
    Ran for 30-45 mins.

    Question now is:
When given throttle, the tach reads up to 1100 but once rev past that it drops to zero on tach. Motor is still running but the tach gauge just drops to zero.
?????? When you let off the throttle tach picks back up but nothing over 1100.? Thoughts?

While motor is not running, battery reads 12 V
While motor is running, battery reads 12 V...no higher.
Bad Rectifier? Is there a way to test rectifier? If so what page of service manual? Or other advice/input?

If you ran it for a few min's and the voltage didn't go up the rectifier would be suspect to me...I will however defer to the gurus here....

Sorry I led you down the garden path,, I told you wrong your regulator tests are in Chapter 7 not Chapter 3. My apologies.

And these readings are from the volt meter you are using or the dash mounted gauge?

Just checking, guys will post voltage numbers from the in dash gauge, not an accurate way to check voltage.
