2019 Mercury ProXs 200 4s #2B597099
About 930 this morning running down the lake around 4500 rpm and many miles from the launch the motor goes into full tone alarm and guardian mode. I look at the vessel view and it shows fault

Shift position sensor is not working correctly.
So I shift into neutral and the motor is still running while I figure out what to do next. I put it in forward and have no forward gear so put it back into neutral and turn it off. I try to restart it and now it won’t turn over. I call Don and he gives a phone diagnosis of a potential shorted/faulty harness.
So here I am now miles from anywhere with my wife and 8 year old step daughter in the boat. I get on the trolling motor which thank goodness was still pretty much at 100% and after a couple of hours we make it to a boat launch. I called a friend of mine to come and pick me up and take me to my truck so I could come back and load my boat. Luckily there was an empty slip and it was a safe populated place for my wife and step daughter to wait in the boat. This all started around 9:30 and finally got off the water around 3:00. Thankful that it happened early and was amazed the trolling motor batteries never crapped out because it was a long trek.
I am in the process of working on when to get it to Don for repairs and it looks like 2-3 weeks out on parts so guess I’ll be working on home projects for a few weeks.
