Huge Makeover coming to my Softail this winter

really like my softail but honestly when I bought it I wish now that I had bought more of a touring model.
so...…..gonna turn my heritage into a Street Glide

got some plans already mapped out and stuff found.
going to do a Batwing faring from Wild One customs
Streched hard saddle bags from Hogworkz.
new slash cut vance and hines pipes
    Shotgun air ride
streched gas tank panels from Bad Dad customs
and 50 spoke fat spoke wheels from Ride Right wheels with Metzler tires.
and all LED lights with LED underglow as well

    at least that's the plan

right now im also thinking since I will be doing all this im going to do a color change and go to a pearl Blue or red not sure yet. also the Amber Whiskey is one of my all time favorite colors so might go that route as well.

if I can get all this going ill put in a thread here to show the progress on the old girl and her facelift

Think I'd just look for a reasonable trade.

Sound like a great winter project. Could go with a metalflake color like a boat. My favorite is a sand or champagne color ( old ranger colors). Get everything apart maybe try a reverse kit. Intake kit?? Battery upgrade!! Agm all the way!!
I would like to get my bike apart this winter but space and work schedule never work out. Got some wiring to fix(mice). Has a bunch of powder coated parts from the previous owner that look not good. Wanna get back to original.
    Keep us posted on progress!!

Thats what I would do as well. If you want a touring bike go that route. You will never get any of your money out of it when you go to sell. Not saying that the bike wouldn’t be cool but cool to you and cool to someone else are two very diff things.

Id go with a “wide open” batwing fairing and that’s all I would do to it. Put a nice radio and speakers in it. Ride it for a few more years until you can find a nice touring bike you can’t live without. I think a “wide open” fairing is about 600 bucks or so.

I rode my Fatboy all over with just a windshield and a set of Road King hard leather bags on it.

You weren't trying to make the Vette something it wasn't. What Luke is trying to do is about like making a Vette into a luxury cross country machine.

I believe you will be happier than going the other route. Post some pictures when you pick up the new ride.

I'm really enjoying my heritage but with the changes you wanted I think that you made the right choice in the road glide. Hope it gives you many happy miles and smiles!

The Roadglide is an awesome ride. Probably one of the least traditional of them all, or at least used to be. They are so smooth with the frame mounted fairing you don’t even notice it like you do a batwing, especially if it’s windy.
