HDS should recognize automatically and ask if its a down or Forward looking install. Check to see if LiveSight Forward is "on" in features.

Also make sure your unit is on the right code version and also update the livesight transducer to the same version.

First step should be to make sure you are using latest software on both Live and the LiveSight transducer.

    HDS Live https://downloads.lowrance.com/softw...ex.html?r=3399
    LiveSight transducer https://downloads.lowrance.com/softw...ex.html?r=3691

Then, hard reset the HDS Live. It should recognize the transducer during power up.

Out of curiosity, do you have both Sonar channels turned on? Go to Sonar Installation page and check. I think multi-source needs to be enabled as well. If you can post a picture of your sonar installation page, it may help.

Ok... did the update 20 on the live 9 unit... didn’t realize their was a transducer software update until I got back and just read this post...
here is where I’m at currently:
tested unit yesterday eve and it recognizes the live sight transducer, however it would only run for short 1 second intermittent blast and go back to a blank screen...
also, when I switched back to reg sonar, it was barely reading... sometimes would say NO SOURCE

If this is on the trailer, not unusual. You need to test on the water as the LiveSight transducer get hot.

    ***update***
so after the updates on display AND transducer, it’s working much better...
not exactly a game changer... I mean, I could see fish and my lure once I got within 15’ of boat but that’s it...
possibly see larger clouds of bait out further like 40-60’ maybe?

but somehow I lost water temp when I go back to “this unit” sonar ... can anyone point me in direction of how to turn that back on...

thank you all for ur help this far!

You can get a lot of help on this board by learning to use the search function. You will find a lot of information about both your questions. The temp loss is just a matter of telling your screen where to get the temp data from in the settings. It will take some learning curve and minor adjustments to learn how to get the range and clarity you need from the livesight. In most cases make sure your transducer is mounted at least 10" above your electric motor housing, and make sure the angle is properly aimed. Turn the sensitivity up until you see the focal point of the transducer and make sure it is pointed out away from the boat. Some boats have a negative angle on the trolling motor shaft, and cause the transducer to point down to the bottom much closer to the boat than optimal, hence shortening the effective range of the LiveSight.
    ciao,
