Drilling hole in Talon Sandwich Bracket to access manual release screw on outboard

Tilt trim motor stopped working today while in the water. Got back to the landing and loaded but the manual release screw is blocked by the talon bracket. Could I drill a 1/2" hole through the bracket to make it easier to get a screwdriver in there to release the trim motor? Otherwise it's take off the motor and brackets to try to get to the release.

Personally I wouldn’t want to drill a hole in the brackets and probably wouldn’t recommend it. Best bet is to find someone with a engine hoist and just pull the bracket off.

Drill away. A 1/2" hole ain't hurting that bracket.

How close is the bracket? Would this fit in there?

I removed the bracket, what a pain. I've tried a stubby screwdriver but you can't see to get things lined up. Have to rebuild my tilt trim unit so now it's all the way out and on the bench.

this^....the bracket is built like a tank. If anything its too heavy duty.
