Door was never fully closed, just had to slip in and out.
No, the Z-Man patents have not expired.
Also, the trade dress registration on the hexagonal blade is unrelated to the patents and does not expire.
Actually I should have said shakee “heads”. They changed the eye and you need a split ring with the new ones. I think that is the “direct attachment” part of it.
I think they had to change something about the blades as well, but I didn’t notice that.

Love me some Z-man. I tied two the big TRDs together and use it as a self-launching rope. I've got a transom tiewdown about to go, and I will replace it with a Z popping frog.
Z-Man patent doesn't expire until 2026, application was granted in 2016 and patents have a 20 year life in the US.

Good point! Apparently they have at least two patents on “chatterbait” type lures and you used to get 20 years from the time of application. They have one expiring in 2024 and another in 2026.Typo or bad math?
