    Water in lower unit

Engine is a 2013 SHO 200. I've had it for just under 2 yrs. There are times when there would be a drip of fluid that comes out of upper vent plug. I have changed the gasket a couple of times, and added fluid (even though it seemed to hardly ever need any). I changed the engine oil yesterday and was changing the lower unit fluid, and it had water in it (very milky). Never in the past had it had water in it. Any ideas on where to start?

I would take it somewhere and have the lower unit pressure tested. Or buy a tester and do it yourself.

gearcase gasket.jpgI'm not sure why Yamaha changed them, but the new black gaskets (not the older orange ones) for the vent and drain plugs are a different material. There is a Yamaha service bulletin that someone posted here before about over-tightening then causing them to leak. Anyway, you're supposed to tighten until it "seats", then give it 45 degree more turn...no more than that.
