    Spinning rod

Looking for a utility spinning rod. Something that might not be perfect for anyone technique but can allow you to do multiple techniques. Shaky head/drop shotting/ Skipping docks. Budget of $200-250. I don't throw a spinning reel much but have gotten to where I enjoy it. So with little experience, I will need help with the powers (medium light, medium, MH). Thanks for any recommendations.

St. Croix Avid X 7’ ML..... I use several different brands but this is a great all purpose in that price point.

x3, if you get a 7' ML and a 7'M you'll be able to do anything you'd ever want to on a spinning rod. Can't be beat for the price!

This one is definitely under budget and under the radar, but the Daiwa Kage 7' Medium is an extremely impressive "all purpose" spinning rod.

Tatula Elite AGS 76MML. They can be had under $250 pretty easily. Don't know if I've ever used a more versatile spinning rod.

Take a look at the ALX Rods Trickster or Maestro. The Trickster is a little better in the shakey/dropshot and the Maestro is a little more shakey/skipping if you are skipping wacky rigs, etc. It can drop shot, but the Trickster is a little better for DS.

With these two rods, you will notice they have aa "+" rating... Light+ and MedLt+ - that means the tip is the first with a heavier backbone. So the Trickster is a Light tip with MedLt backbone and the Maestro has a MedLt tip with a Medium backbone. Really makes the rods very versatile and able to do more than just a standard Light or MedLt power.

Overall, the Maestro is our most common "utility" type spinning rod in the ZOLO line.

Happy to help walk you thru any rods if you want to give us a call - 866-628-5052 x1, M-F, 830-530 EST.

I've got a couple of different rods that I like for all around, both from Shimano and not expensive. One is the Intenza 70M and the other (even less expensive) is the Sellus 71MA.

Checkout the Falcon BuCoo, I use the (light weight) 4-17 or 5-17 or 5-172, 5-173 rods for my spinning.
They are 99-109 and can be found at BPS, Cal. and A Sports.
Check stock on-line before you go.
    Good Luck

Agree. 7'1" M Feather would be my choice. It's tough to find a rod that can handle drop shotting and more finesse stuff as well as the heavier stuff like shakey heads, tubes, and dock skipping. This one does it amazingly well.
