    Armadillo invasion!

Spotted one in the back yard last week and chased it out, well at least I thought I did. Wife came in from her morning smoke and said it's back! Well to my surprise it must have told its friend there were good eats in my back yard and there were two of the little suckers out there. Chased the one back out of the yard but his pal ran under the storage building. Need to figure out how to get rid of the damn things! I'm sure some of you fellas have gone thru removal of these critters, Hav-a-heart traps?

Fred would coyote urine work? Would assume coyotes are a predator of the armadillo and it may scare them away. Pretty sure bass pro would carry it.

I had them in my yard as they were after the grubs in my lawn, got some granules to spread on the ground that kills the grubs and watered it in, I do that about twice a year, no critters now. Also got rid of my mole problem at the same time as they forage after the grubs as well.

killing the grubs is your best bet, trapping them is very trying they do not go to bait, they basically need to be funneled into a trap, they have terrible eyesight and will walk the edge of a corridor into a trap if you have an idea of their den and travel path, and they sleep all the time, i think i have read all but 4-6 hours of the day they are sleeping, they also adjust their daily timing of activity, so getting off a shot is all in timing....very very frustrating critter

They love fresh mulch or frequently watered lawns .... makes it easier to forage. Hard to trap because of the way they feed. Only way I've seen it done successfully is using 2x8's as guide boards to funnel them in. It's almost impossible to bait them into the traps.

    .22 works well.

I visited a friend in Florida awhile back, he threw a bait net over them, one at a time of course.

They have expanded in to this area also. I saw 2 dead on the side of the road this weekend. When I travel down to Farmington,MO for work certain times of the year it is amazing how many dead are on the road.
