    Braid to mono knot

What knot do most of you use to connect mono to braid? How many hands does it take to tie it??

I use an FG Knot for mono and fluoro to braid. Hard knot to learn but it gets easier with time. Only two hands needed. J.T. Kinney has an excellent video about the FG on YouTube.

That’s what I’m tying now. The GT knot. Super strong and easy to tie.

Yep, this one. I did some almost-scientific testing with this one and found it to be basically identical in strength to the Alberto but it's easier and quicker to tie and is a bit thinner. It's not quite as thin as the FG, but it doesn't take 3 hands to tie and won't let loose on you after a couple hundred casts like the FG might. It's also about 1/4 the length of an FG which is something that I don't think can be ignored when it comes to a knot going through the guides.

One comment to add: You end the knot just like an Albright or Alberto, by going out the way you came in. A good way to remember it is similar to the ditty you may have heard on how to tie a bowline: the rabbit comes out of the hole, runs around, and goes back down the hole. Shin got this one turned around while he was tying it so it looks like he goes down through the loop both times, but if you do that it will just pull apart. Instead if you go down to start, you have to go up to finish. I put the ring finger on my hand holding the loop through the loop while I'm tying it to avoid having it get turned around on me. Brent Ehrler shows the ring ringer trick in a video where he shows how to tie the Alberto (which he calls the RP knot or something like that).

Thats the improved Albright knot or the Alberto knot, John Collins knot, RP knot to name a few. Easy to tie and works great. I’m finding the GT knot a little stronger,

This is an Alberto. A little different than the Albright, but the two are similar anyhow.

    EDIT: What ifishinxs said.

FG is the ONLY knot I'll cast through the eyes. Crazy simple but tricky at first.
