Just saw on the news where the city of Atlanta will no longer respond to any car accidents unless there are injuries. You now fill out some type of form. I know the insurance companies will love this because who is at fault.

They do that every year during Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
Sounds like a good excuse to raise your insurance rates even more.
We were doing that at the Ca. Police Dep't™ and I've been retired for 15 years now; involved parties would exchange info... Traffic wouldn't respond unless major injuries/fatality .. "Mail Outs" Same with Burglaries; Thefts; etc.
Good thing there aren't many cars in Atlanta.
Wonder what they'll do about hit and runs? Felony in N.C.
Bad idea and it doesn't matter what state handles accidents this way.
Going to cause vehicle insurance to become even more ridiculous.
Does not matter who is at fault. At least not in my state. Reason for no-fault insurance is so the insurance companies can raise the rates of BOTH drivers. My wife was in 3 accidents in a period of about 3 years. None her fault. First one: T-boned when driver on his phone ran a red light. Second one: Wife was in left hand turn only lane when the girl next to her decided she also wanted to make a left hand turn and pulled into the side of wife's car. The girl's 3rd accident. Bet a cell phone was involved. Third one: An oncoming driver (happened to be female) made a left hand turn just as my wife got to the intersection. No light or stop sign so my wife had right of way and wasn't expecting the other driver's maneuver.
Our insurance rate went up a lot. Tried to get cheaper through another company. Turns out no one else would ensure us for less because of my wife's 3 accidents. How is that fair when she wasn't responsible for any of them? Yup. Insurance companies are the Devil's span.
EDIT: Same car all 3 accidents. Major repairs needed. Last time with the almost dead head-on collision the insurance company totaled it.

That has been the norm in Detroit for a long time. As long as the vehicles are drivable, drive to the nearest precinct...
If it’s anything like here in OK....
I was side swiped on the turnpike with boat, got both by the way. I pulled over and car did a u turn through a gap in the median. I got an at fault because no one else to talk to but me
Hillsborough county (Tampa) has been doing that for a while. I got rear ended about a month ago. The other person's insurance took care of the damage without a police report. I took plenty of pictures of the damage , their ID's and their insurance card.
When I called the cops , they said they won't send anybody out unless there is a injury. Sure made the whole process a lot quicker.
I almost got screwed that way once during an ice storm. 16 yo girl lost control was sliding right in front of me broadside and I hit her. Police said just exchange info her sister worked for an insurance company and schooled her on what to say they hurried up and processed the claim and my insurance paid it. They said I hit her and I said true but I’m driving down the road and 30 feet in front of me is this car in my lane broadside. At the time she was so tore up she knew she was the one at fault but a cop never took her statement because they was only responding to injury accidents due to the circumstances.
Recent fender bender in SFL and city sent a police rep traffic enforcer who writes a report. Glad they do because the lady who hit me claimed my fault, but the enforcer educated her on traffic law - plus wrote the beetch a ticket. Got the fender fixed with out ever hitting my insurance.

sounds like a good time to start looking at dash cams for front and rear. That way there is no he said, she said issue.
I have had one for a couple years and glad I have. No accidents yet, but have caught plenty of stupid drivers though.

Wait till your insurance company tells you that you were at fault because you chose to be there that leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling.
Hit and runs happen daily here in Greenville mainly on White Horse Road. Police know it's from the latinos driving with no insurance. Only saving grace part is the accident gets reported as non insured and the deductible is a mandatory 200.00 and can not affect rates.
Most of the insurance companies try and file it under your collision policy. Luckily the form you get with accident report stops them from being able to.
They won't respond here either unless an injury or other property was damaged in the process. Fortunately, our insurance rates haven't changed after two accidents that were not our fault. That may have been only because there wasn't any major damage and less than $2K for repair.
