    Foils on Bullets

Are there any drawbacks to having a foil on a bullet?

If you fish big water it can hold the rear of your boat up a little making it take some water over the nose. Just an ever so slight possibility.

I have been told that drilling holes on the lower unit to mount the foils is altering the lower unit and that Mercury will void the warranty if you have a problem. I contacted Don at Europium Marine and he verified that.

My warranty ran out 7/28/20. My CB Foil arrived 7/29. Installed 7/30. Ran the boat today for the first time. Pretty dang awesome. 21xdc/300xs/SM 1.75/30p Bravo1 XS. Holeshot was awesome but was more impressive was running 22mph with no porpoising and had no effect once on pad. Will be testing a 30p Pro ET that I have feeling is gonna be awesome with this foil.

PS my Merc dealer relayed the same message about possibly voiding warranty if it was deemed the damage was a result of the foil. I also confirmed this with Merc

Jay, thanks for supporting what I was told. I think it is WRONG of Mercury. I have the stupid TM2 that causes all the blow out. I understand if I hit something or if the housing breaks where I have installed the foil, but to void the warranty If there is a problem with the gears is WRONG. If I had known this 5 months ago I would have never made the Mercury purchase.

Leonard, I actually called Merc and Merc told me it would not void the warranty. It could void warranty if damage was deemed to be caused by the foil or the installation of the foil. If a power head blows could they try and say it was due to the foil? Don’t see how but is a possibility.

Imo all bullets should have a good foil, a bottom plate under the jackplate(the bigger the better) and a big kids ball in the jackplate if you can.

seems trivial but makes a difference...

Especially if holeshot and low speed planing are important to you.

At one point I could run my 20Xdc on plane at 12mph.....!!!

The polished looks great, I need a foil along with a prop to get mine out of the hole.

Dont get powder coating if you get from CB Marine. It looks awesome but mine has all peeled off and it looks like shit now. About 18 months before it started peeling.

Fish lake Erie, wouldn't go out without a foil on my 21xrd. Se Sport 400 requires no holes to be drilled, no issues with mine. Best addition to a Bullet IMO
