    86 184- jackplate?

I have an 86 184, running a 150hp Yamaha. I've always had it sitting on the transom. Will do 57 mph at 5500rpm. Have to have the transom rebuilt. My question is would a transom jack be of any benefit on this boat? Was thinking a Manuel model with 4 to 6 in. set back.

6" Rapid jack with champ offset is exactly the right unit.
If your motor is still strong, might be a good time for a stage kit from Hydrotec. Turns your 184 into quite the machine.
