Lowrance switch to Garmin for future LiveScope

I currently have a Lowrance 9TI, and I am thinking of switching to Garmin, so I can add LiveScope in the not to distant future.

I can get a EchoMap Plus 94SV with a 51 transducer with BLUE G3 maps at a pretty good deal.

But, I fish freshwater, so the Blue G3 maps do me no good. I assume I can update it to the lake maps instead (at a cost)?

I think the 51 transducer will work fine. I mostly fish in 30 - 100ft of water.

    Thanks for any thoughts!

    Nice combo. New, or used?

The 51 does 455 pretty good, and 260 for seeing waaay out there.

You can not update it the inland lake maps, what maps come on it that what it is.

In my opinion, if you plan on using the mapping, get the one that correct unit. If its an "Only LS" unit and maps dont matter then by all means get it....

Interesting. Why would they limit it to only offshore?

They have different units with different mapping.

Here is a break down of the mapping in the Echomap Plus units:

    92sv - base map
93sv - US Lake Vu (inland)
    94sv - Blue Chart (Coastal/Offshore)
    95sv - Canada

So, I bought the 94SV, and it came with the 51 Transducer. I also picked up a used 52 transducer, as it was being sold for $20.

I also bought a Panoptix PS-22, as I just couldn't spend $1500 for LiveScope (yet).

I am considering selling my Lowrance 9TI at the helm and just keeping the new Garmin as my sole fish finder.(it's only a bass tracker). I do see that a lot of folks have their Panoptix on the front of the boat, which poses a problem if the display unit is back at the helm....

Can't he buy the LakeVu maps? https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/125128
I'd ask Garmin to be sure, but I swear that you can buy the maps you don't have and use them on your device. (I.E. Canadian maps on a 93sv)

Yes, as you say, you can run an accessory LakeVu mapping card on a 94sv (Bluechart unit) or 95sv (Canada unit).
