95 Xri 150 TPS and Timing rebuild.

    OG228318

Trying to set tps after rebuild. Seems that TPS is set at .185 right now. Manual says to set between .240-.260. But it also says that these settings are for a specific Ecu part number and above. Can not find a part number that looks remotely close to what it says in the manual. Here are the numbers I can find. When testing full throttle voltage with meter set to 20v I’m getting 7.53v manual calls for approximately 7.46v. is that close enough?

Also about setting the timing. I still have the idle stabilization module. Is it worth disconnecting for just leave it alone? Had no idle issues before rebuild. If I remove it are there any issues with setting the timing before doing the break in? Will that have to be checked again after break in?

Thanks will do!! Just outta curiosity what would cause the TPS to be set so low .185 is clearly outta spec. Is it just that over time that sensor loses position or more likely someone messed with it? Any reason to lean out the idle like that?

I rebuilt a 1995 175 XRi a couple of years ago and set it at .250. Just for grins I checked it yesterday and it was .251. At full throttle, mine also read 7.53. An amazing coincidence.... just weird.

Always remember to disconnect the port side temp sensor when checking the TPS after running on a hose. Or you will spend 10mins constantly resetting it only to watch it change as soon as you tighten down the screws. I was very confused for a moment. Looked up pricing for a new TSP and had a heart attack. Remembered the temp sensor was still hooked up. All good now. Off to the lake tomorrow to start the break in process.
