1994 Javelin 379T Steering cable replacement

The steering is way to tight and am assuming it's time for new cables, BUT don't really know what I should be looking for parts wise or where? It's a 17.5 boat, but without part number and taking old cable out first, I am stuck. Any suggestions on where to pickup and how to would be appreciated.

Think the 379 uses a 14' cable, but part number is on cable housing ahead of big brass nut where it hooks to motor.

The folks at C&O Marine in White Bluff will have a solution.

I had a 1993 Javelin 379 TDC back then. Earl Bentz was running the show in Tennessee.
The 379 was a super fast hull, 84" beam, a true 18' rocket, and nice to fish from

I replaced the steering cables on my 1995 javelin 379DC 150hp fast strike. I went with the teleflex no feedback cables. Installation was a little challenging by myself but patience is the key.
    Will send pics.

When i had my 95 379T i switched to a sea star hydraulic and it was worth every penny.
If you can fit it in your budget i highly recommend doing it. It made a big difference in the handling of the boat!

I have a 1993 Javelin379 T with dual cable steering. Same issue with tight steering. I need to replace or change to hydraulic. My cable is marked Morse 0304411-156in. The 156in is 13 foot cable. The other thing you have to identify is the type of steering unit attached to the wheel, rotary or rack & pinion. That being said I was told there isn't any cables manufactured any longer for the older style rotary unit, so if I stay with cables will need to purchase a complete kit that includes the new style rotary steering unit.
From what I have seen that kit is available and runs between 5 and 6 hundred bucks.
