Raymarine Element Talk me into them!

FINALLY! I'm ready to get NEW electronics! Thinking of the the Element at the helm and bow. Have OLD lowrance units presently. Want GPS and mapping. What do you guys suggest I need? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can’t network with a normal Raynet cable like the Axiom family. You will have to go with an Stng network. Not a big deal, just a different way to do it and one more thing that needs power.

I have a ES7 at the Bow and a Axiom Pro 9rv at the helm. I didn't want to network them and I don't think they will either. But I wanted a DownScan at the bow on the Trolling Motor and the ES7 Transducer works and mounts well. The Axiom has all the bells and whistles to use at the helm and gives my backseater a good look as we're fishing as he can see what's below him, and I see what's below me.

eS7 is an older unit - runs Lighthouse II software. Can upgrade the LHIII, but I don’t recommend it.

Axiom is nice. Runs LH III software. Great if you want 3 or more units networked or want an auto-pilot, radar, etc.

For the price, Element is a good unit. Runs LH III Sport software (basically a light version of what Axiom uses). Not going to get 360 or Panoptix like views, but you get “mega” frequencies. Very easy to operate and again, a good unit for the money if you want a full feature fishing unit.

I'll make you a deal on a very slightly used 12 inch element if you're interested.

Why ? I did the upgrade to Light House III and I don't see any issues.

Because an eS upgrade to LH III networked with an Axiom is a recipe for disaster.

Also, initially there were a lot of features lost from LH II to III. That might all be fixed now, but initially the LH IJ to LH III gap was a big issue.

But, I don't have them networked together !! Nor do I want them networked !
