    Trophy plus or tempest plus

Currently running a 4 blade turbo 24p on my '88 skeeter starfire with a 175 black max on the back. Would like to replace with a trophy or tempest. Dont know if i would stay the same pitch either, most likely would though or close to. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Put the tempest on it you need all the bow lift you can get.

More lift and a little more speed. The one I have currently is a little dinged up and don't know much about turbo props.

Will I lose much handling goin to a 3 blade? And if I were to get a tempest, what pitch is suggested?

New prop should put you closer to mid 60's.

So I think I decided on a trophy plus. Don't know if I should go 23 or 24p. Any suggestions?

I empowered my 518 dvs with a 175 pro xs. I had a 4 blade 21p and was at 58mph@5500 RPMs. I tried a Tempest 23p and I'm at 62.9mph@5790 RPMs now and I still adjusting JP. I am still getting out of hole very fast. Stability is still good as Long as I don't trim too high. I would say the 4 blade is more stable though. Depends what you want. Top speed or better handling at WOT.

I had a 1987 skeeter star fire back in the day with a 175 on it . Back then a star fire with a 150 got a mercury 3 blade 23 turbo ,175 Ran 24 or 25 turbo . I personally ran a 26 chopper but my motor was modified out . Those old 2.5 Lt eng didn’t have much low end unless you removed the exhaust can and ported the eng , but once you got them up and running they ran strong . A 24 trophy would be good or a 25 tempest where I would start . The prop your running is not know for top end performance. A trophy will out pace it no problem all the way around . If you have a jack plate set it at 2 3/4” below pad to the center of the prop shaft make sure boat hull is level anD prop shaft is level when setting eng height . You can’t go to high with those older motors as they had the 8 vertical inlet holes on the side of the lower unit . Any higher then 2 3/4 “ you will be sucking air in the upper holes we alway plugged the top 4 holes on both sides with Allen set screws and red lock tight .

I would like to try a 25 tempest but just worried about how much stability I may lose.

How do I determine my hub size (or don't' know what I should be looking for, maybe size of gearcase)? My engine is a mercury serial # OC213004. I would hate to purchase the wrong prop.

I ended up buying a 24 trophy. Got a demo model still in the original box never opened or used, just has the word 'demo' stamped on it. Got it for 565.00 with the hub kit included, not a bad deal. Thanks to everyone for their input, much appreciated.

is it a trophy plus . You may need some plugs . I would start with it holes open first . And plug one hole at a time to minimize blow out on hole shot break over .

Yes it is a trophy plus. So start out with all holes open first. Then just plug one at a time if needed?
