Excellent motor. I have 1995 284DC with the 150 fast strike. Very reliable. I would not trust the oil pump though. Add oil to your gas as an insurance policy. I've never had to replace plugs due to excess oil.
Also... have the compression checked on a used motor before you buy it is always a good idea.

Strong, thirsty motors and the two I had could be a bit bitchy on the first start of the day. Make sure it has good compression AND leak down.

There is no published set of #s. All holes should test within 10% of each other. That's the standard.
About 110 psi on the top 4 cylinders and 100 psi on the bottom 2 is what ive always heard is about ideal.
