    Too much prop?

1995 186 champion 1996 175 EFI mercury motor with brand new 24p tempest prop. 6 inch jack plate 3 inch prop to pad. 45 mph 12 psi water pressure at WOT. Verified wot linkage hits stop and butterflies are perpendicular to intake. Engine seems to run great on muffs from idle up to 3000 rpm. Engine seems to run great on the water just no top end. New water pump impeller, fuel line, Fuel filter, primer bulb, spark plugs. What am I over looking?

Sounds like a weak motor... Fouled plug, starving for fuel, etc.

25 year old boat was it garage kept or sat outside it’s intire life . If outside it’s water logged and heavy now or you have a eng not making Hp or a bad prop.

Had that same set up. Mine ran best with a 23 Tempest at 3 1/2" below pad - 62-63. Played with a lot of props and that was the best set up on mine.

Update. Went to a bigger lake with rough water the boat ran 61 at 5400 rpm with full load. Water pressure was around 16. Good enough for me.

Get a 23P Tempest plus if you get a can.
