    3 blade to 4 blade

    '06 TR20xhp 225 Merc optimax

I currently run a 25p tempest plus at about 5600 rpm, I also have a 26p tempest plus that also runs about 5550 rpm.
If I were to get a 4 blade (maybe a bravo 1) should I go down to a 24p or a 25p? My hole shot isn't bad but it's not good either with livewells/ gas and tournament load. I'd like to be able to get out of the hole fast .... real fast.

You can usually run a Bravo 1 one pitch higher than a Tempest and turn the same RPMs.

I have a TR 196 and have played around for hole shot and low speed performance. If hole shot and not top end is your priority, my experience tells me that a 24 Bravo or a 23 Rev 4 will be great on your boat. If you want both but not quite as good a hole shot, probably a 26 Bravo would do the trick. On my boat, the Bravo has a slightly better hole shot than the Rev 4 but the Rev 4 carries the boat better at intermediate speeds. I am too old and slow to spend time at WOT.

I had a three blade fury and tempest on my Hp 21 and changed to a 4 blade trophy and i gained a better hole shot and handling which i need because i fish Okeechobee a lot. Here's the crazy part. ............I gained 8 mph top end too.... 72 with with the fury and 80( 250 pro xs) with the Trophy.....Makes no sense to me.

That's a good problem to have, I'll take another 8 mph with added hole shot any day!

    I ran a 21X 2004 with a 225 regular Opti with a Fury 3 26" and a Trophy 4 26". I just liked the Trophy 4 all around better for fishing and get up and go. 3 ran 73 , 4 ran 72.
