A coned low water pickup lower unit will wake up your 20 XD. A 10" Jack plate will help.
If you run a stock lower unit very high as you can with low water pickup you will need to add a heavy duty bearing carrier to keep the unit from chattering out ( stripping the fine threads on the lower unit ). A Sportmaster is fine as it is designed with a heavy duty bearing carrier to handle the stress of running a surfacing prop.
