    Lake McConaughy

This is a little late in posting but considering nobody really associates this lake with bass fishing, I thought I throw this up.

The Nebraska Bass Federation had their final 2020 qualifier on July 11th on this lake. I managed to win it and this is the practice video. It takes place over 2 days and I actually found the winning pattern in the first hour or two of the first day.

I'll be right back there for the regional (technically called the semifinal) in September and fishing against anglers from both North and South Dakota.

Damn Steve, think you can give me some of your luck this year? I've had an awful year outside of my last tournament 2 weeks ago.

I definitely would if I understood any of this good luck myself!

I didn't want to post this on the main page but in our TBF the next week we got on a spot where we caught 3 pound smalleys every cast for over an hour! I went back to the spot I fished the week before and caught a 4.10 green one. The lake doesn't get as much credit as it deserves. The locals could give a crap less about bass.

Is this the lake that was real low a few years ago from a lack of rain?

I believe so. It was really low long enough to grow tall but thin trees clear out to 25 feet of water. Granted, that lake was still a little low at that point.

Sometimes lakes comeback real strong after prolonged drought that allows for good cover to become established.

It definitely has that. There are trees all over the place now.

Another great video, and, a win to boot! When the plopper bite is on, it is definitely on. I always have one on the deck in the summer but never started a day like that. Keep that hot streak going, Steve.

I gotta ask, did you co have a limit?
