    Hot foot trouble

    Old Hot foot was very corroded and sticking. Replaced with a brand new one today.

    peddle will not spring back to idle.......I greased cable, tightened spring all the way. Thinking it was cable all along.

    Any ideas? Do they make a stronger spring? If I have to replace the Cable (23 years old) does anybody know the length for a 1997 186?

    And if replace cable how labor intensive is it?

    Replace the old one with a premium or supreme type if possible. Those are the best. You may be able to find a part number on the old one, it will have the length in the printed code. Not sure how your boat is rigged, but you may be able to pull the old one out and the new one taped to one end. Some times they are easy, some are a pain.
