    F205 breakover

Hey guys, on my F205 with the Merucry 4s 250hp, i'm assuming factory comes with the 23 pitch fury, 3 blade. Mine has the Atlas jackplate and when getting up on plane i have been told to have jackplate at about a 7 to 10, somewhere in that range and when its at breakover start dropping down to a 2 or 3. The question is has anyone tried to play with the PVS holes to help compensate for the blowout? I have them but right now the prop is completely open. Wasn't sure if there was a formula for this or you just learn to feather the throttle when it starts to breakover. Thanks

Not a Falcon owner and not running a 4 stroke, but I run my Phoenix 921 at 20 on takeoff and drop it to 10 for top end. Lower for rough water. It sometimes slips a little at break over, but I just feather the throttle a little. It I take off with it lower it takes much longer to get on plane. Every boat is different, but the 3 boats I’ve driven, with hydraulic plates, all room off better with it up. You also need to know where you prop to pad is running and actually mark your plate ruler. The gauge can vary a little when running it up or down. Hope this helps.

3 blade fury props always try to blow out on roll over it seems. dads basscat does it and he just pedals it some on break-over and keeps going

I have a 205 falcon with a 250 SHO...I leave my plate sitting at 5/6 on atlas gauge with a 25pitch and or my 27t1. Both have decent hole shots and great top end, the 27t1 better top end.. our falcon boats are fairly heavy boats with a lot of the weight mid range to nose if you look at way hull is designed. I have experienced best with all weight in back..full tanks of gas(54 gallons) and still rockets out. if its blowing out, close a vent hole or try another prop. A buddy is running a pro xs 250 4 stroke and is having awesome results with a 25 tempest plus..I recommend that. Good luck.

Running a 26 Raker on my G2 and have ZERO blow out issues....only time I ever do is occasionally on aggressive turning when trimmed a little high.

The gear case on the Pro XS has a tendency to do just what you describe. For best hole shot on previous hulls I would jack the plate to the top, apply full throttle, and immediately start to drop the plate. By the time the motor spools up, and the bow drops you should be completely hooked. If not, put in 1 full plug / PVS, and go from there to decrease venting. The 23 might be a little small. I have a 24 that just came back from Ronnie Gilbert (prop specialist from LA that has been balanced, and optimized for lift), that I would work a trade with you, if that turns out to be the case. I have a Legend V20, with SHO and could drop 1" pitch.

Thanks everyone. Chris, i will try the PVS plugs, i was going to try the half plugs on all ports next time out but i will take your advise and use the single full plug.
