    Crappie Blank

My daughter has a crappie rod she won about 17 years ago, and she has worn it out. I am considering building a crappie rod for her. Mudhole has a 6 foot glass rod. She currently has a 5 foot rod. My question is can a glass rod be cut, and if so what can it be cut with (what tool)?

I use my band saw or my chop saw with a cutoff wheel, both work well. A hand hack saw will get the job done also, just go slow and it will be fine.

I also use Dremel tool with one of those cutting discs in it.

Also keep in mind that cutting the rod will reduce the power some and slow the action down. I have cut a few inches of some blanks and couldn't really tell the difference, a foot might be a different.

I use a Dremel with a cutting disc as well. Wrap some masking tape around the blank where you want to cut it. You'll be fine with cutting off a foot, it's a crappie rod...
