Oh man...it's pretty thick right now. Ten minutes you've sweated through all your clothes like Mike Tyson in a spelling bee.

And it looks like we're dead center of a twisty thing coming out of the Gulf. Oh joy, nothing like 98 degrees, 98% humidity and a layer of storm mosquitoes.

That's why I love winter, Godfather. No bugs and the dog poop in my yard is frozen. Still, this year I have only encountered 1 mosquito. In my yard. None at the lake the morning these pics were taken. You southern folks are tough as nails to deal with all them bugs. Hats off to ya.

Nice pics, and I don't miss many boats of the past. I miss my 187, about the perfect sized boat for me.

Stay safe Pat! I wish that thing has a little more northerly trajectory, but listening on the news yesterday it would probably head over into Mexico. Maybe Amistad & Falcon will benefit. For us to get any rain off those, it has to come in about Corpus and do the right hook thing and head north or slightly NW. I can say that is one thing I don't miss about my cellular network operations career. Hurricane duty always meant extended all expense paid vacations to the coast to restore the networks. My markets included the RGV, but I got in on the fun in SE TX and LA. Was in Houston for Ike and Hammond, LA for Issac toward the end of my career.

Yeah, the storm itself gets everyone's attention, and not downplaying it one bit, but I can assure you the after is the real pain. We still had the Marble Falls house for Harvey, I loaded up the really valuables and hauled butt, no regrets doing that. The next few weeks were just about as painful as you want to endure. No power, had a little honda generator that would keep a couple of fans and a small refrigerator going. We had a lot of tree damage, but a lot of people lost their houses. We had renovated the house back to the studs, built everything back to wind code, no nails, everything was built with big deck screws, 200 mph windows, everything strapped to concrete.

Both neighbors were flattened, three houses across the canal were flattened. It just shows you once again mother nature gets last bat.

And there are always things that balance it out. I was cutting trees when this little guy came up and asked if I had anything to eat...yeah dude I got peanut butter, want some? Oh yes please....and that's how we got one of the best dogs I've ever had. Never was much of a little dog fan, but this guy's a winner. Meet.....Harvey. (of course)

Yeah, Harvey was a bitch. High pressure in central & west TX wasn't having it, so pushed back and forced Harvey to talk a slow walk along the coast.

Just checked NOAA's tracker and looks like Hannah hit somewhere between Corpus and Brownsville. Looked to be SW of McAllen and tracking SW. Y'all get any high winds or just rain?

A few decent gusts in the storm bands. Nothing serious. Good amount of rain. Should help the mosquito crop.

If you wanted to pick the most desolate spot to land a storm that was it. Just king ranch and two truck stops in Rivera

There's a zillion little black rat dogs running around Seadrift, there's a spaghetti bowl of dog DNA. Harvey is so ugly he's "cute" his legs are too long, feet too small and he's hair challenged all over. But let me assure you, he won the Seadrift dog lottery, how many would their mommas stop at the dollar store to get them a pillow to sit on so they could be comfortable in the car?

2020 has just been AWESOME....Hanna looks like it just wandered back in the gulf and is respooling up for another run. This should be fun.

What was it, in 03 or 04 a hurricane came in on the FL panhandle, exited up the east coast then came back south and hit FL on the Atlantic side? Think ol Jeb was governor then.

A couple of small boats showed up, but turned around because it was raining. So yes, I had the whole lake to myself!
